Cal Williams, DVM, Owner

Dr. Cal Williams was born in Susanville, California in 1958 to Wes and Agnes Williams. His family moved to the Reno/Sparks area when he was five years old. He graduated from Bishop Manogue High School in 1977. After spending several weeks touring Europe, he attended the University of Nevada, Reno to study veterinary medicine. During his undergraduate studies, he worked for Hoover Animal Hospital, where he met his friend and partner, Dr. Doug Nesler.
Dr Williams married his high school sweetheart, Catherine in 1979. His first son, Nick, was born in 1980, the same year he left Nevada to attend Ohio State University - College of Veterinary Medicine. Their second son, Brian, was born in the summer of 1982. Dr. Williams graduated from veterinary school in 1984 with honors.
Upon returning home to Northern Nevada, Dr. Williams began to work for his friend, Dr. Nesler at Pyramid Veterinary Hospital, but unfortunately the practice was in its infacy and was unable to support two veterinarians. After spending two years practicing emergency medicine, (and perfoming a little relief work for Dr. Nesler), Dr. Williams returned to work at Pyramid Veterinary Hospital, where he became a partner.
In the mid 90's, Dr. Williams' wife, Catherine, returned to the University of Nevada, Reno and received dual Bachelor degrees in Education and Special Education. She also received a Master's degree in Literacy from UNR. She is curently a teacher at Alyce Taylor Elementary School.
Dr. Williams' special interests include ophthomology and internal medicine. In addition, he enjoys hiking, fishing, camping, and traveling with his family.. He also enjoys woodworking and landscaping. He and his family have had several pets throughout the years. Currently he has a Pit Bull mix, Elsie and shares a sweet Pit Bull named Trixie with his son Brian, who is constantly traveling.
At present, Dr. Williams' son, Nick, works for a local financial management software company called Pertrac. His other son, Brian, runs a local non-profit called "Think Kindness" which works with youths and adults to make a difference in their community and in the world.
